Introduction Pain is an uncomfortable condition that is really subjective and only the sufferer can explain it. One of the pain relief measures in rheumatoid arthritis pain patients is warm water compress therapy which can cause vasodilation so that it can launch blood flow and pain can decrease or stop. The purpose is to see the effect of warm water compresses on the intensity of pain in elderly people with rheumatoid arthritis. Method: Quantitative type of research, quasi-experimental method, with pretest and post test one group design. The population of the entire elderly is 35 people. Independent variable compress warm water Dependent variable Pain Intensity. The analysis used a paired t-test with a significant value of α = 0.05. Result: shows that there is a significant influence of the implementation of warm water compresses on reducing the intensity of pain in the elderly who experience rheumatoid arthritis (p value = .000) which means that H0 is rejected or there is an effect of warm water compresses on reducing the intensity of pain in the elderly. Conclusion: there is an effect of warm water compress therapy on changes in pain intensity in the elderly suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Therefore, it is recommended to nurses and other health workers to provide IEC (Communication, Information and Education) about giving warm water compresses to patients with rheumatoid ahritis.
