Background:Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a disorder of the coronary arteries of the heart due to blockages that cause the heart muscle to lack blood supply so that heart function is disrupted. Objective:For Knowing the level of knowledge of UNMUHA students about risk factors for coronary heart disease, to determine the prevalence of active and passive smoking among UNMUHA students, and to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of UNMUHA students about risk factors for coronary heart disease with the prevalence of active and passive smoking.Method:This type of research is analytic observational research with a designcross sectional. Data collection for both independent variables and dependent variables was carried out simultaneously at the same time. Results:The results showed light smokers at 26.1%, and active smokers with moderate categories where the results of 200-599 were 7.6% active smokers with severe categories not found in Muhammadiyah University students. the highest proportion of passive smokers with severe criteria was found in respondents from law faculties of 71.4%, followed by public health faculties and psychology faculties of 57.1% while the lowest proportion of passive smokers with severe criteria was in respondents from vocational (hospitality) faculties 0 %. The difference in proportions was tested above with chi square with continuity correction which then obtained a p value of 0.025 which is smaller than 0.05 so that it can be concluded that the research hypothesis is accepted that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge about risk factors for Coronary Heart Disease and passive smoking. Conclusion:There is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge about coronary heart disease risk factors and active and passive smoking.Suggestion:Both active and passive smokers are advised to increase their knowledge regarding the side effects of cigarette smoke. For the University of Muhammadiyah Aceh it is recommended to make preventive efforts to prevent or reduce smoking students in the campus environment.
