Unmet need is an important concept that is used to develop family planning policies. Unmet need is the percentage of women who currently do not use a contraceptive method and do not want more children or delay pregnancy, but do not use any type of contraception. The high rate of unmet need for family planning affects the close spacing of births and the number of children born, resulting in a high risk of maternal and infant mortality. The government through the BKKBN (National Family Planning Coordinating Board) is trying to reduce the number of unmet needs for family planning because it is one of the factors causing 75% of maternal deaths in Indonesia and also in the world. This type of research is analytical survey research, the population in this study is mothers who do not meet the need for family planning or married women in the age group 18-49 years, the research sample is women of childbearing age who do not follow family planning or do not meet the need, namely 35 people. The research was carried out in the month April-June 2023 and research was carried out in the working area of the Petumbukan Galang Deli Serdang Community Health Center, North Sumatra Province. The results of the research show that there is a significant relationship between age (0.000), there is a relationship between work (0.101), there is a significant relationship between husband's support (0.010) and unmet need. And there is no relationship between work (0.101) and unmet need. It is hoped to improve communication between couples so that a joint decision can be reached regarding the use of contraception as an effort to improve their health status for the better.
