Kata Kunci: Karakter Masyarakat Dalam Sastra Lisan Seumapa Pada Prosesi PerkawinanJulius Jacobs, a health expert who served in Aceh from 1878 until towards the end of the nineteenth century, wrote: "The magnitude of Hindu influence on the native population can at least be confirmed by the fact of the use of place names in Hindu language where the terms are found in Acehnese. There is no need to mention the influence of Hinduism on customs, especially since the Hindu kingdom had been firmly established until the middle of the 16th century when Muslims took their place and the seeds of the crescent moon spread widely, especially over the ruins of the Hindu kingdom. Research that aims to describe and interpret something, such as existing conditions or relationships, developing opinions, ongoing processes, consequences, or ongoing trends, is called descriptive research. Aceh Pidie Regency was the location where the research was conducted. The reason the researchers went to this location was to learn more about the custom of the Aceh Pidie people who marry each other with reciprocal rhymes (seumapa). The people who will be interviewed to obtain the information needed for research are research informants, or Seumapa Experts. The specific research objective stated in the research formulation is the research object. Researchers were able to learn from three informants during interviews that religious rhymes, advice, and jokes are types of rhymes that are also often used in Acehnese wedding traditions. The sheikhs also included religious rhymes, advice and jokes in their rhymes. The Sheikhs usually use spontaneous rhyme content in their poetry. So that their listeners don't get bored, the sheikhs add limerick content to make the rhymes more interesting.
