PERAN KEPALA SEKOLAH SEBAGAI INOVATOR DALAM MENINGKATKAN MUTU PENDIDIKAN DI SEKOLAH

Upaya menyelaraskan peran kepala sekolah yang sesuai dengan kemajuan IPTEK dan perkembangan zaman, tidak terlepas dengan perannya sebagai seorang innovator pendidikan di sekolah. Kepala sekolah sebagai innovator merupakan pribadi yang dinamis dan kreatif, yang tidak terjebak pada suatu rutinitas. Peran ini sesuai dengan tuntutan pemerintah dalam UU No. 20 tahun 2003 tentang sistem Pendidikan Nasional yang memberikan batasan pendidikan sebagai usaha sadar dan terencana untuk mewujudkan suasana belajar dan proses pembelajaran agar peserta didik secara aktif mengembangkan potensi dirinya untuk memiliki kekuatan spiritual keagamaan, pengendalian diri, kepribadian, kecerdasan, akhlak mulia, serta keterampilan yang diperlukan dirinya, masyarakat, bangsa dan negara. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: kinerja kepala sekolah yang mampu menciptakan inovasi pendidikan di sekolah dan inovasi-inovasi yang dapat diterapkan dalam kepemimpinan kepala sekolah untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan di sekolah. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif, yaitu menela’ah, mengumpulkan, menyusun, mengklarifikasikan, dan menggambarkan masalah yang ada pada saat sekarang melalui buku-buku terkait, jurnal/artikel, majalah-majalah serta referensi terkait lainnya tentang Manajemen Kepala Sekolah sebagai Inovator di sekolah yang up to date dan terbaru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: Peran kepala sekolah dalam manajemen pendidikan di sekolah, di antaranya: kepala sekolah sebagai educator (pendidik), manajer, supervisor, innovator, motivator, dan leader. Peran kepala sekolah sebagai innovator akan tercermin dalam kinerja kepala sekolah yang teraplikasi secara konstruktif, kreatif, delegatif, integratif, rasional dan objektif, pragmatis, keteladanan, disiplin, adaptabel, dan fleksibel. Visi dan sekolah inovatif dapat ditempuh oleh kepala sekolah melalui 4 strategi, yaitu: a) Merenungkan gagasan, b) Mengatur tata nilai, c) Shared Problem, dan d) Merubah kondisi. Dan bentuk-bentuk inovasi yang dapat diterapkan dalam kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dapat berupa: inovasi fisik dan non fisik. Inovasi fisik, meliputi; kurikulum, sarana dan prasarana, pengelolaan keuangan, dan strategi pembelajaran. Sedangkan inovasi non fisik, meliputi: pengelolaan siswa, tenaga guru, dan hubungan masyarakat.

Efforts to align the role of the school principal in accordance with the progress of science and technology and the times are inseparable from his role as an educational innovator in schools. The principal as an innovator is a dynamic and creative person who is not stuck in a routine. This role is in accordance with the demands of the government in Law no. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education system which provides educational boundaries as a conscious and planned effort to create a learning atmosphere and learning process so that students actively develop their potential to have religious spiritual strength, self-control, personality, intelligence, noble character, and skills that are needed by himself, society, nation and state. The purpose of this study was to determine: the performance of school principals who are able to create educational innovations in schools and innovations that can be applied in school principal leadership to improve the quality of education in schools. This research method is a qualitative descriptive method, namely examining, collecting, compiling, clarifying, and describing the problems that exist at the moment through related books, journals/articles, magazines and other related references about Principal Management as an Innovator. in schools that are up to date and newest. The results of the study show that: The role of the principal in education management in schools includes: the principal as an educator, manager, supervisor, innovator, motivator, and leader. The role of the principal as an innovator will be reflected in the performance of the principal which is applied constructively, creatively, delegatively, integratively, rationally and objectively, pragmatically, exemplary, disciplined, adaptable and flexible. Innovative visions and schools can be pursued by school principals through 4 strategies, namely: a) pondering ideas, b) setting values, c) shared problems, and d) changing conditions. And forms of innovation that can be applied in school principal leadership can be in the form of: physical and non-physical innovations. Physical innovation, including; curriculum, facilities and infrastructure, financial management, and learning strategies. While non-physical innovations include: student management, teacher staff, and community relations.
