PENGGUNAAN TATA BAHASA PADA PENULISAN ESSAI BAHASA INGGRIS

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan dan Fakultas Sosial Sains dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Ubudiyah Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk menggambarkan secara jelas dan tepat tentang kemampuan mahasiswa dalam pengunaan tata bahasa dalam penulisan essai bahasa Inggris. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi kesalahan penggunaan tata bahasa Inggris yang terdapat dalam penulisan essai mahasiswa program studi ilmu gizi dan manajemen Universitas Ubudiyah Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah essai dari tulisan mahasiswa. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa terdapat beberapa kesalahan dalam penggunaan tata bahasa pada penulisan essai bahasa Inggris yaitu kesalahan pada penggunaan kata benda (32%), kesalahan dalam penggunaan kata kerja (28%), kesalahan dalam penggunaan kata ganti (18%), kesalahan dalam penggunaan bentuk kata depan (12%), dan kesalahan dalam penggunaan kata sifat (10%). Ada beberapa sebab yang masih terjadinya kesalahan dalam penggunaan tata bahasa yaitu masih kurangnya pegetahuan tentang penggunaan tata bahasa Inggris dan belum bisa membedakan konteks pengunaan tata bahasa antara bahasa utama dan bahasa target.

This research was carried out at the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Education, Ubudiyah University, Indonesia. This research to find out clearly and precisely describe students' abilities in using English grammar in writing essays. The aim of this research is to obtain information on errors in the use of English grammar found in essay writing by students of the nutrition and management science study program at Ubudiyah University, Indonesia. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The subject of this research is essays written by students. The data obtained was then analyzed using descriptive analysis. Based on the research results, it was found that there were several errors in the use of grammar in writing English essays, namely errors in the use of nouns (32%), errors in the use of verbs (28%), errors in the use of pronouns (18%), errors in use of prepositions (12%), and errors in the use of adjectives (10%). There are several reasons why errors in the use of grammar still occur, namely there is still a lack of knowledge about the use of English grammar and not being able to distinguish the uses of English grammar in the context between the main language and the target language.
