Aceh merupakan wilayah yang rawan bencana, terutama gempa bumi dan tsunami. Tragedi tsunami tahun
2004 mengubah paradigma perencanaan permukiman di daerah pesisir Aceh. Meskipun berbagai lembaga
telah membangun ribuan unit hunian pasca bencana, banyak dari hunian tersebut tidak mempertimbangkan
aspek sosial budaya dan iklim lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana prinsipprinsip
arsitektur vernakular Aceh dapat diadopsi dalam desain hunian pasca bencana yang adaptif dan
berkelanjutan. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif-deskriptif melalui studi kasus di dua wilayah
terdampak tsunami. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan studi pustaka. Hasil
menunjukkan bahwa prinsip-prinsip seperti rumah panggung, penggunaan material lokal, sistem ventilasi
silang, dan orientasi bangunan tradisional terbukti efektif dan relevan untuk diterapkan. Integrasi elemenelemen
vernakular ini dapat meningkatkan ketahanan hunian serta keberterimaan sosial oleh masyarakat
lokal.
