PERANCANGAN APLIKASI PORTAL INFORMASI MAHASISWA PADA UNIVERSITAS UBUDIYAH INDONESIA BERBASIS ANDROID

Portal informasi pada sebuah universitas mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting bagi para mahasiswa, dosen serta staff universitas maupun yang lainnya. Kebutuhan informasi sekarang ini menjadi suatu kebutuhan yang tidak bisa diremehkan terutama di dunia pendidikan, bagi kalangan mahasiswa informasi harus cepat dan akurat agar tidak ketinggalan sesuatu hal. Penyampaian informasi kepada mahasiswa pada Universitas Ubudiyah Indonesia sekarang ini hanya bisa diakses melalui website, grup facebook, dan sms gateway. Penggunaan website dan grup facebook dalam memberikan pelayanan informasi masih memiliki kekurangan dalam pelaksanaanya, berdasarkan data dari Direktorat Administrasi Akademik (DAA) bahwasanya masih banyak mahasiswa yang ketinggalan informasi karena tidak adanya notifikasi khusus yang bersifat portable kepada mahasiswa. Selain itu Universitas Ubudiyah Indonesia juga memiliki smartphone khusus berbasis Android yang merupakan salah satu fasilitas yang ada. Fasilitas ini sangat mendukung karena Android bersifat portable dan mudah digunakan. Faktor inilah yang menjadikan penulis membangun aplikasi portal informasi berbasis android. Untuk mendukung penelitian ini maka pengambilan data dilakukan di Direktorat Administrasi Akademik selaku bidang yang membawahi pendistribusian informasi seputar perkuliahan. Aplikasi ini dibentuk diatas bahasa JAVA sebagai algoritma dan struktur data serta bahasa pemograman XML sebagai bahasa yang membentuk interface dari aplikasi. Notifikasi yang dikirimkan langsung ke smartphone Android menggunakan layanan Firebase Cloud Messaging.
