PERANCANGAN APLIKASI REALTIME UNTUK KONVERSI MATA UANG ASING BERBASIS ANDROID MENGGUNAKAN OPEN EXCHANGE RATES APPLICATION PROGRAMMING INTERFACE (API)

Abstrak

Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi informasi berkembang sangat pesat, salah satunya smartphone berbasis
android. Android adalah sistem operasi untuk perangkat seluler berbasis Linux. Seiring dengan perkembangan tersebut
dapat dimaksudkan untuk mencapai hasil yang lebih baik, informasi yang efisien d an efektif kepada pengguna.
Penggunaan smartphone sebagai penerima informasi sangat membantu pengguna, namun memiliki kekurangan
informasi kurs saat ini karena tidak semua aplikasi Android seperti yang digunakan untuk konversi mata uang tidak
menggunakan data kurs realtime, tidak dilengkapi dengan data mata uang kripto, dan juga tidak dapat mengkonversi
semua mata uang. Sehingga menyulitkan pengguna untuk mendapatkan informasi kurs terbaru. Saat ini sudah ada
beberapa metode yang digunakan untuk konversi mata uang asing, antara lain menggunakan metode perhitungan yang
terhubung dengan klikbca.com sebagai web service dan menggunakan proses fetching dari website Yahoo Finance.
Namun hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa kelemahan yang ditemukan dalam hal API yang
digunakan karena hanya dapat dikonversi ke Rupiah. Proses pengambilan data menggunakan API pada web service
sangat rentan apabila menggunakan API yang tidak akurat, berpotensi menjadi masalah karena data yang dihasilkan
tidak realtime. Selain itu, pada penelitian sebelumnya aplikasi dapat mengkonversi 5-21 jenis mata uang saja, tidak
memiliki fitur hasil konversi semua mata uang dan tidak dilengkapi dengan crypto currency. Pada penelitian ini
dilakukan pengembangan aplikasi konversi mata uang Realtime berbasis Android menggunakan Open Exchange Rates
API dengan format kurs JSON. JSON berkomunikasi melalui API, dengan tujuan untuk menghubungkan aplikasi
mobile ke database yang ada di server. Keluaran yang dihasilkan oleh API adalah data konv ersi mata uang dalam
format JSON dalam bentuk App ID dari nilai tukar terbuka layanan web. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebuah
aplikasi konversi mata uang secara realtime untuk konversi 161 mata uang asing dan 12 mata uang kripto terhadap
Dollar. Hasil pengujian melalui respon pengguna adalah 82,6%, responden menyatakan aplikasi ini dapat berfungsi
dengan baik dan mudah digunakan.
