PROMOSI KESEHATAN TENTANG HIV/AIDS DI SMA NEGERI 9 BANDA ACEH
Abstract
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a type of virus that infects white blood cells which causes a decrease in human immunity. Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a collection of symptoms that arise due to decreased immunity caused by HIV infection. HIV sufferers need treatment with antiretrovirals (ARVs) to reduce the amount of HIV virus in the body so that they do not enter the AIDS stage, while people with AIDS need ARV treatment to prevent opportunistic infections with various complications (Ciment, 2020). The purpose of this community service is to provide students with broader knowledge and understanding about HIV/AIDS so that students can prevent HIV/AIDS. The dedication was carried out by direct health promotion to students of SMA Negeri 9 Banda Aceh City on February 19 2023. The number of students who took part in this activity was 30 students. The results of the implementation of the activity showed that students became aware of HIV/AIDS and how to prevent them from contracting HIV/AIDS. The conclusion from the implementation of this community service is that students often hear about HIV/AIDS, but their knowledge about the causes and ways to prevent HIV/AIDS is lacking, so it can be concluded that the implementation of health promotion is very important.
