The practice of money politics can have an unhealthy impact on the political process in Indonesia, especially in the province of Aceh as one of the provinces in Indonesia that enforces Islamic Sharia. The practice of money politics is not justified either in positive law or in Islamic law. However, the fact is that on the ground there are still many phenomena of the practice of money politics during elections, ironically this also occurs in a province that upholds Islamic values, namely the province of Aceh. Then, students are also no longer aware of the existence of their role as students, one of which is as social control in social life. What's even worse was the occurrence of errors in thinking and perceiving the practice of money politics as a normal thing, and right. Based on this phenomenon, it was considered important to carry out a community service activity with a psychological intervention approach through Rational Emotive Therapy (RET) to revive students awareness as social control in preventing the practice of money politics in the upcoming 2024 elections. Participants in this community service activity totaled 30 people, namely students from the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication at UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. The purpose of this community service activity was so that students can think rationally again and can perceive correctly that the practice of money politics was wrong. The results of this community service activity show positive things, where positive changes occur in participants, both in cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects. Then, the participants have also become aware again of their role as social control in social life, one of which is in controlling so that the practice of money politics does not occur in the upcoming 2024 elections.
